Matt Hampel aka “The Situation”

I’m a fourth-year student in the U-M Residential College. I am particularly interested in the changing landscape of civic information gathering. My major is in interdisciplinary social sciences, with an emphasis on sociology.

My experience is with collaborative web technologies in nonprofit and education contexts. I design and build wikis, blogs, websites, online communities, data-processing applications.

This semester, I’m working with D-ACIS, the Detroit-Area Community Information System, a nonprofit that collects and shares data about the city, state, and region. I’m researching ways to present civic information online and building a prototype application.
