Ashlee Stratakis

I lived in Detroit until age 5, moved right across the street (Warren Ave) to Dearborn so I would not be in the DPS system (sad, but true).  I moved to Roseville in ‘96 and graduated from Roseville High School in ‘06.  I attend the University of Michigan but am participating in a program called Semester in Detroit where I live in the Wayne State dorms, take classes on Detroit with UM professors and have a part-time internship at New Detroit, Inc.  My majors are Organizational Studies and Social Theory & Practice with a focus on Urban Studies. My current employment is doing research for a post-doctoral scholar at the UM School of Architecture on Space and Institutional Logics.  In June ‘10 I’m going to Charlotte, NC to teach Math to middle schoolers (Woo!) through Teach for America.  I hope to get my hands in some community development work once I complete the program to gain some experience for when I go back to school get a masters in Urban Planning (hopefully at Wayne State).
